We take the protection of your personal data seriously. We process your data in accordance with applicable data protection law — in particular the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — and this privacy policy.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
Daniel Koch
Urbanstrasse 96
10967 Berlin, Germany
Email: contact@meetagain.org
A statutory data protection officer is not required for the operator of this website (private individual below mandatory thresholds). For data protection enquiries, please contact the controller directly.
2. Data We Collect and How We Use It
2.1 Server Log Files
When you visit this website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information in server log files. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, and the date and time of the request.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in operating a secure and technically reliable website.
Retention: Log files are deleted after approximately 7 days.
2.2 Account Registration
When you register for an account, we collect your name, email address, and a password (stored as a one-way cryptographic hash — we never store your password in plain text). This data is necessary to provide you with access to the platform.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract.
Retention: Until you delete your account or request erasure.
2.3 Event RSVPs and Attendance
When you RSVP to an event, we store your attendance status and any optional message. Event organisers of the relevant group can see who has indicated attendance for their events.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract.
Retention: For the duration of the event and a reasonable period thereafter.
2.4 Session Cookie
We use a single technically necessary session cookie to keep you logged in while you use the platform. This cookie contains no personal information beyond a random session identifier and is deleted when you close your browser or log out. No consent is required for this cookie.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract.
2.5 Payment Data (Group Subscriptions)
If you subscribe to a paid group tier, your payment is processed by Mollie B.V. (Amsterdam, Netherlands). We do not store your card or bank details. We retain only your subscription status and the billing references required for recurring charges (Mollie customer ID and subscription ID). Mollie acts as an independent data controller for payment processing under their own privacy policy.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract.
Retention: Billing references until subscription cancellation; accounting records for 10 years (§§ 147 AO, 257 HGB).
2.6 Support and Contact Messages
When you contact us via the support form or by email, we store your message and email address in order to handle your request and any follow-up correspondence.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
Retention: Until the request is fully resolved, then deleted.
2.7 Map Display (OpenStreetMap — opt-in)
On event detail pages, we optionally display a map using OpenStreetMap. If you consent to the map cookie, your browser loads map tiles directly from servers of the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF). Your IP address is transmitted to OSMF as part of these requests. You can withdraw this consent at any time via the cookie settings.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — consent.
Recipient: OpenStreetMap Foundation, 132 Maney Hill Road, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1JU, United Kingdom. The UK is recognised by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection.
3. Third-Party Services
| Service | Purpose | Data shared | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hetzner Online GmbH | Web hosting (dedicated server) | All server traffic, including IP addresses | Germany (EU) |
| Sweego | Transactional email delivery | Recipient email address and message content | France (EU) |
| Mollie B.V. | Payment processing (subscriptions) | Billing data and subscription references | Netherlands (EU) |

We operate a self-hosted error tracking tool (Bugsink) on the same server in Germany. In the event of an application error, technical diagnostic information (such as the URL and an anonymised reference to the affected user session) may be recorded. No payment data, passwords, or personal message content is ever included in error reports. No data is sent to any third-party error tracking service.
No analytics services, advertising networks, or tracking scripts of any kind are used on this website.
